Preparing for a very busy wedding season in the coming weeks, I got things started Saturday photographing Tara and Ryan’s engagement session in the morning and a bridal portrait in the afternoon.

Tara and Ryan, whose wedding I’ll be photographing in Cary in September, had mentioned trying some locations at the McColl Center For Creative Arts in Charlotte and it turned out to be a fun spot for pictures. An added bonus was the new North Carolina Dance Theatre building, which was another interesting location for photography.

They were naturals in front of the camera and we had a great time with the photo session.

Congratulations Tara and Ryan - I’m looking forward to photographing you again in September!

Kelley first contacted us in November to get some photos with her “kids,” English Bulldogs Lily, Lucas and Brutus.

We decided to wait for some nicer weather and recently got together to photograph the group.

Betsy gave me a hand as we worked to corral them for a family photo.

Thanks for having us out Kelley!

It’s always nice to see families grow and we recently had the chance to photograph William, the newest addition to Callan and Nicole’s family.

We’ve been photographing his brother Cal and sister Lilly since they were babies and now it was Willim’s turn.

Topping off the shoot on a hot July day with a run through the sprinkler was a great idea!

Congratulations Callan, Nicole and family.

I hadn’t met Alison and David before our photo shoot Monday. I was concerned it might be a washout as showers fell in the morning and rain was forecast throughout the day.
The couple lives near Boston but will be getting married here this Saturday in the Lake Norman area. It was great to get a chance to get to know each other a bit before the wedding.
I knew we were going to hit it off right away as they drove up totally unconcerned about the weather. They said they had been doing so much planning and preparing and they just wanted to enjoy themselves throughout the process.
The rain held off and the cloudy skies created a beautiful soft light. Alison and David have such great chemistry and were so comfortable in front of the camera that it made it a pleasure to photograph them.
I know their wedding is going to be spectacular with the talented Ivy Robinson handling the planning. Make sure to check back next week for wedding images.

The spring weather has been unpredictable as usual but we’ve been lucky to dodge raindrops during a couple of recent outdoor engagement sessions in Charlotte.
Catherine and Stephen are a fun couple who are so easy to work with. I’m really looking forward to their July wedding in Charlotte.
We headed out to Freedom Park on a chilly afternoon but we were fortunate that the sun peeked out just long enough for us to finish up our shoot.
I had to cross my fingers for a break in the showers this week on another engagement session that I’ll post in the next day or two.
Alison and David live near Boston but they’ll be getting married in the Lake Norman area this Saturday. We did a quick engagement shoot Monday.
Check back for their engagement photos later this week and wedding photos early next week.

We started Laura and Mike’s story on June 23, 2007 at their beautiful wedding at Atlantic Beach on Carolina’s Crystal Coast.
And we were so pleased to get a chance to document their next chapter as we recently photographed them with baby Anna.
It’s such an honor to have our clients trust us with all these important moments of their lives. And it’s very gratifying to see families grow and blossom.
Betsy gave me an assist as we photographed them at their charming home in Charlotte.
I included some images from Laura and Mike’s wedding and you can see more here.
Thanks Laura and Mike (and Anna), it was great working with you again.
The story continues.
