Alison and David gathered with family and friends for a picture perfect wedding along Lake Norman Saturday.
Alison’s parents are in the process of building a home on an incredible lot with beautiful lake views in almost every direction. And while the house isn’t quite finished, the lot and what was completed of the house provided a fantastic setting for the outdoor ceremony.
And you could hardly have asked for better weather with some sunshine and gentle breezes throughout the day and evening.
The clear tent from Party Reflections allowed for fantastic views and was a great place for eating and dancing.
It was only a few days ago that I photographed Alison and David’s engagement session (they live near Boston and it was the first chance we had), and I knew their wedding was going to be fun and relaxed.
Planner Ivy Robinson did a superb job putting all the pieces together. Elements Design of Charlotte created the florals and Cheesecakes Etc. made a beautiful cake. The Doug Burns Band kept everyone dancing with a great variety of music.
Our company photographer Laura Mueller did her usual stellar job as she documented the guys getting ready and even took a boat ride with them over to the ceremony.
Thank you to Alison and David and their wonderful families.

I hadn’t met Alison and David before our photo shoot Monday. I was concerned it might be a washout as showers fell in the morning and rain was forecast throughout the day.
The couple lives near Boston but will be getting married here this Saturday in the Lake Norman area. It was great to get a chance to get to know each other a bit before the wedding.
I knew we were going to hit it off right away as they drove up totally unconcerned about the weather. They said they had been doing so much planning and preparing and they just wanted to enjoy themselves throughout the process.
The rain held off and the cloudy skies created a beautiful soft light. Alison and David have such great chemistry and were so comfortable in front of the camera that it made it a pleasure to photograph them.
I know their wedding is going to be spectacular with the talented Ivy Robinson handling the planning. Make sure to check back next week for wedding images.

The spring weather has been unpredictable as usual but we’ve been lucky to dodge raindrops during a couple of recent outdoor engagement sessions in Charlotte.
Catherine and Stephen are a fun couple who are so easy to work with. I’m really looking forward to their July wedding in Charlotte.
We headed out to Freedom Park on a chilly afternoon but we were fortunate that the sun peeked out just long enough for us to finish up our shoot.
I had to cross my fingers for a break in the showers this week on another engagement session that I’ll post in the next day or two.
Alison and David live near Boston but they’ll be getting married in the Lake Norman area this Saturday. We did a quick engagement shoot Monday.
Check back for their engagement photos later this week and wedding photos early next week.

My father passed along a passion for the game of golf. Not any great skill mind you, but an appreciation of the game, its traditions and the beauty of its venues.
I’ve covered several major golf tournaments and photographed some of the best courses in the country.
Once again this year I’ll be photographing for the Quail Hollow Championship.
As part of that coverage I try to get out in early April to get photos of the beautiful Quail Hollow layout.
Quail Hollow has a great deal of water which comes into play on several of the holes on the back nine. Given the right weather conditions, an eerie mist rises from the water.
You have to arrive at first light to get the best conditions. I figured the cold temperatures Tuesday night would be ideal. It may have been too cold for the mist, but I did get some nice light as a reward for my early arrival.
I’m looking forward to working with Quail’s awesome tournament staff again this year.
April and May are going to be very busy months so make sure to check back soon for some engagement photos and more wedding images.
